--> --> Sept. 26: Raiders nab No. 5 slot in NAIA poll Ashland Daily Tidings As a result of three blowout victories, the Southern Oregon University football has moved up to No. 5 in this week's NAIA Top 25 poll. The Raiders (3-0) have posted convincing victories vs. Linfield 29-0 and Simon Fraser 49-19 since the last poll of Sept. 11 had them ranked No. 9. "It's nice to receive recognition, but the only rating that really counts is the Nov. 11 poll," said Raider head coach Jeff Olson, referring to the final poll that decides playoff teams. "We have a lot of work to do between now and then." The Raiders travel to Puget Sound (0-2) Saturday. Individually the Raiders are making marks in the NAIA statistics. The Raider defense ranks fourth nationally in total defense and the offense ranks fifth in total offense. Senior quarterback Travis Mari is sixth in total offense (246.7), while senior wideout Leo Stoddard is fourth in receptions (7.3) and junior punt returner Nick Daniken is fifth in returns (22.7).
