Around 2:30 p.m., two people were at the Ashland Police Station on East Main Street to report they were being followed all day by an acquaintance, Sgt. Jim Alderman said. When they left, the woman, Charity Joy James, 51, was waiting for them in the lobby. Alderman said Officer Damian Amarillas asked James to wait until they left. Instead, James left the police station and tried to follow them, speeding out of the parking lot and nearly striking three vehicles, Alderman said. Amarillas tried to stop James from leaving the scene, but she ignored his commands and bumped him with her vehicle, Alderman said. He was not injured. Amarillas was able to remove James from her vehicle and she was taken into custody. James was arrested for reckless driving, attempted assault on a police officer, and driving under the influence of alcohol. She was lodged at the Jackson County Jail in Medford. Ashland Police & Fire 1:20 a.m. Wednesday - A 10-foot sign from Southern Oregon University was thrown into the middle of Siskiyou Boulevard. Damage estimated at $500. 12:46 a.m. Wednesday - Two 12-packs of Heineken valued at $29.18 were reported stolen from the 7-11 on Siskiyou Boulevard. 9:20 p.m. Tuesday - A station wagon was struck by another vehicle on the 1100 block of East Main Street. Damage estimated at $1,000. 2:31 p.m. Tuesday - A vehicle was reported stolen from the 100 block of South Mountain Avenue. 8:55 a.m. Tuesday - A van was rear-ended by a pickup truck on North Main Street at Grant Street. Damage to both vehicles estimated at $2,000. Talent Police 9:35 p.m. Tuesday - Medford man, 20, arrested for stealing $192.12 worth of items from the Wal-Mart on Valley View Road.
