The author shares the view of many, who perceive the struggle to be mostly about oil. He asks questions most in the media would not ask, for fear of being labeled unpatriotic. Unlike many others, he did earn the right to voice his opinion. He comes from a military family where every male, including him, has put his life on the line for this country. He earned the right to hold our government accountable. He does that, and much more, by infusing the book with a passion rarely espoused by writers today. Hlobeczy Tuesday, Feb. 7, 7:30 p.m. A Presence Behind the Lens Nicholas Hlobeczy Hlobeczy, who lives in Corvallis has spent nearly fifty years intentionally honing the craft of photography. Now he teaches workshops across the country, and has been a curator for a museum in Cleveland. The subtle writing in his book captures that rich experience, and is also laced throughout with stories of his mentor, the legendary photographer Minor White. He will also be showing slides of his work. Thursday, Feb. 9, 7:30 p.m. The Square Grove: Poems by Vincent Wixon Vincent Wixon Ashland resident Vince Wixon's book of poems are about changes during a life in mainly two spheres-the rural Minnesota of his youth and the Oregon backyard of his adulthood.
