America's illustrious president — who has botched every cliché known to man — has had a difficult time of dispelling the reputation of being a buffoon. George W. Bush has been hounded by political pundits and satirists from the time he set eyes on the White House. In fairness, Bush provides an enormous amount of comedic material. But beneath the irreverent humor and overall dismissal of the notion that Bush is a pedigree in a family of American powerbrokers, a level of hatred fumes across the fruited plains for this president. Undoubtedly, Bush's predecessor, Bill Clinton, provided as much fodder for comedic consumption, offered as much drama as one might find on the television show Desperate Housewives, and attracted a vitriolic hatred as well. But unlike Clinton's detractors — who were ready and willing to hold him accountable for frivolously abusing his authority and undermining the judicial process — those who levy even heavier claims against Bush (i.e. illegally causing the deaths of hundreds of thousands, including American troops, under color of authority) are the same ones blocking any movement toward holding him accountable. STRANGE BEDFELLOWS Ironically, many of those who accuse Bush of being a marionette manipulated by Dick Cheney also stand ready to defend the president's rationale for wasting both American and Iraqi lives in a war based on ulterior motives. The same folks who proclaim that Bush has destroyed the economy of this nation with a war that has no end in sight and is costing American taxpayers billions of dollars every month are the same ones who continuously vote to ensure that system never changes. In fact, some of the loudest and most powerful democratic voices in Congress calling for an end to the war in Iraq are the same leaders who refuse to do anything within their current power status to bring it about. Congressman John Conyers, who chairs the House Judicial Committee and has called for an impeachment of Bush in the past, refuses to allow a bill to come out of committee that calls for an impeachment of the vice president. Speaker Nancy Pelosi has adamantly refused 15 members of Congress, whose names are on H. Res. 333, the open democratic process they deserve. Senators Clinton and Obama likewise ignore the idea of impeachment and steadfastly refuse to even entertain any suggestion of an independent investigation of Sept. 11. Obviously, if the government is found to have any culpability in the attacks of Sept. 11 — former National Security Advisor Zbigniew Brzezinski provided Senate testimony this year that supports the notion of such false flag events orchestrated by our government — it obliterates the entire foundation of fear of "radical Islam," upon which the Bush administration has built its war machine and massive expansion of internal power. Ironically, when asked directly, not one front-running candidate for president will stand on the unequivocal position to bring the troops home immediately, despite their criticism of the propaganda proffered by the president. So, why all the fuss? It is evident that those constituents in both parties, along with independents, who want America out of the Middle East completely, are ignored or dismissed as "anti-American." The apparent replacement of Bush is Hillary. And the Bush-Clinton clan has maintained a continuous U.S. military presence in Iraq since 1991. Hillary has no intentions of changing that. In fact, no one does. THE 9/11 ENIGMA America's leaders in Congress are shoring up plans to ensure a permanent U.S. military presence in Iraq. Why? Because of terrorism, stupid! Don't you remember three towers collapsing, the invisible plane melting into the Pentagon and another disappearing over a field in Pennsylvania? Surely, you've heard Bush say we must kill the Iraqis, er, I mean the terrorists in Iraq before they kill us! Didn't we see the passports fall out of the terrorists' pockets when the plane blew up inside the World Trade Center? And who could forget the pudgy, gold-laden Osama and his convenient confession? Sure, the government had already provided Osama's name to the media, which was proclaiming his involvement in 9/11 before all three towers could hit the ground. And yes, we saw Osama's name on the front pages of newspapers across the country on Sept. 12. But, given our president's word that he would destroy any country where terrorists may hide, it seems quite evident that this course of action is the only path down which America will walk from this day forward. So relax, quit whining about how we got in Iraq and Afghanistan, and just be glad Bush is in control. As all the baseless accusations and political positioning you listed in your article goes on around him, he continues to stand above the fray, confident it will be exposed for the pure propaganda it is. The only fuss, is the fuss being made by those who want there to be fuss. I wouldn't anoint Hilary quite yet. Indeed Mr. Green the Dems are part of the same system. The only thing the Democrats know is they are the anti-Bush, but have yet to outline their vision or agenda for America. Why do we play the Dem. v. Rep game, when obviously neither party stands for significant change? And like Bob said, don't start planning your Hillary party yet. They won't act on getting us out of Iraq because, regardless of what the polls says, it's political suicide. Of the 3 leading Democrat candidates for president, all have said they will remain in the Middle East if elected.
