Why did the Tidings wait to run their story on this topic after the deadline for public input? To replace a large, healthy tree that has served for decades as a living, welcoming symbol of Ashland's special beauty with a sculpture is a cruel joke. Every fellow Ashlander I have talked to about this issue is sick that our city council voted to allow it to be chopped down. Those who approved its removal (and all of us who used to pride ourselves on Ashland's reverence for nature) will now have to live with that unfortunate decision forever. Oriana Spratt Ashland Raise taxes, raise dependency It would be pretty easy to get tax increases like Measure 30 to pass. The government just needs to raise the level of dependency. When the population of Oregon has more government employee's and people dependent on the government then working people, they could pass anything. What a shame, huh? Glenn Thatcher Ashland Story missed the good Cue's done I have known Ron for over a decade and have had the opportunity to deal with him on a professional and personal level during that time. It was sad to see that the reporter that described Ron in the Daily Tidings did not include all of the good things Ron has done for this community and for this county. I have seen him donate untold amounts of hours toward indigent clients and he always went the extra mile to help youth in this county. So if you see his familiar face in our town you might want to say thanks for all things that weren't reported. "Thanks, Ron." Mike Naylor Ashland Saying thanks Thank you to everyone who participated in the McBarrel's of Food Canned Food Drive for ACCESS and Josephine County Food Share. Customers brought a combined total of 1,469 pounds of food to their local McDonald's which will help provide more than 1,469 meals for hungry families. We appreciate those in our community who desire to make this a wonderful place to live and are proud to be a vehicle for their compassion.
