Ashland’s Urgent Weed Abatement Push Kicks Off to Slash Wildfire Risks by June 2025 Deadline News By Diane Megaw On Apr 30, 2025 FILE - Lithia Park & Oregon Shakespeare Festival in Ashland | Photo by Seth Smigelski ASHLAND, Ore. — The City of Ashland’s 2025 fire season Weed Abatement Program starts in May to reduce fire fuel and the spread of potential wildfires. It’s crucial that Ashlanders ensure their property is safe. The city has indicated that Ashlanders need to do this to reduce fire risks in the community. Timely weed abatement helps protect your home and the surrounding community. To comply with the Weed Abatement Program: To improve the chances of your property surviving a wildfire, cut grass and weeds and remove any flammable plants and debris near your home. Cut grass and brush to a height of four (4) inches or less. Remove invasive vegetation such as blackberry, thistles, broom, and ivy. If you see overgrown vegetation in your neighborhood, report it   The deadline for compliance is June 1, 2025.
