The building was erected in 1900 and served as a boarding house, primarily for railroad workers. Today, the posh hotel provides luxurious accommodations and the potential for sharing a room with an uninvited guest. October 31, 2005 A ghost without peers When the owners and employees of the Peerless Hotel in Ashland’s Railroad District felt a chilling presence in the old dilapidated building, they didn’t think much of it. The most striking circumstance happened in Room Three of the hotel. In a mirror above an elegant old imported dresser, a hotel guest, who had never heard of the ghostly haunts, saw an apparition that could only be described as Amelia.
