Morin an all-state selection Ashland High senior post Marla Morin was the straw that stirred the Grizzlies' drink all season and was honored for it recently with a spot on the Class 4A All-State squad. Morin, a 6-1 first-team all-SOC force who averaged 18 points and 9.9 rebounds during the regular season, garnered third-team all-state honors. She was the only Ashland basketball athlete, boy or girl, to make an all-state team in the spring. Morin led the Grizzlies to a third-place finish in the Southern Oregon Conference and to victories in two 4A sub-tournament games. Ashland advanced to the state tournament in Portland, where the Grizzlies went two-and-out at the double-elimination event. Morin will play volleyball at Portland State University next fall on a full-ride athletic scholarship. Lakeridge sophomore post Jillian Harmon was named 4A girls Player of the Year and Kathy Adelman was named the 4A girls Coach of the Year. Redmond junior post Maarty Leunen garnered the 4A boys POY award, while the 4A boys COY honor went to Redmond's Kelly Bokn.
