Jamie Lusch/Mail Tribune UPDATED: Two lanes open after I-5 truck crash near Siskiyou Summit March 27, 2015 - 10:18 AM A commercial truck crash this morning on Interstate 5 below the Siskiyou Pass slowed northbound traffic for more than seven hours, but two lanes are open now. An Oregon Department of Transportation news release said the truck, whose trailer was filled with mixed greens and radishes, crashed around 9:30 a.m. near milepost seven, completely blocking northbound traffic. Oregon State Police responded along with ODOT workers as traffic backed up along I-5. ODOT spokesman Gary Leaming said these kinds of crashes aren't unusual on the Siskiyou Pass and can be caused by a variety of factors. "Truckers, if they miss a gear, if their brakes malfunction, if they get cut off by another vehicle," he said. Leaming did not know the cause of this morning's crash.  By 11:35 a.m., workers had managed to reopen one of the northbound lanes. An additional lane had opened by 4:30 p.m., and Leaming said traffic was now flowing smoothly, although salvage work was still underway on the shoulder. Leaming said ODOT planned to close the two lanes again temporarily around 8 p.m. to finish the salvage operation. The roadway is expected to be totally clear by midnight, he said. According to OSP Sgt.
