Carpool to Mt. Ashland - win a free season pass Skiers and snowboarders who carpool to the Mt. Ashland Ski Area this weekend will not only benefit the environment, but could win a season pass for next winter. The ski area will hold a drawing for a season pass as part of its 2003 Sustainable Slopes Outreach Campaign, which kicks off Saturday. Visitors who carpool with three or more people and arrive at the ski area between 8 a.m. and noon on Saturday and Sunday will be eligible to enter the drawing. Drawing slips will be presented to each car pool driver at the entrance to the ski area parking lot. During the Sustainable Slopes Outreach Campaign, displays, information and programs at Mt. Ashland will emphasize why the environment is the ski area's number one asset, according to ski area staff. The ski area's Web site ski report, at mtashland.com, will feature Sustainable Slopes messages promoting environmental awareness to visitors and inviting them to participate in the program. Under the leadership of the National Ski Area Association, Mt. Ashland Ski Area and hundreds of ski areas across the nation have participated in developing and endorsing far-reaching environmental guidelines. The guidelines address all aspects of resort operation, including planning and design, water and energy use, habitat and forest management, waste management and environmental education.
