The crash occurred about two miles east of White City when a vehicle attempting to make a left turn eastbound onto Highway 140, pulled into the path of a dump truck and a motorhome. At approximately 3:53 p.m. on Friday, a 1999 Ford Expedition driven by Ann L. Miller, 50, of Eagle Point, attempted to make a left turn onto State Route 140 eastbound from Kershaw Road. The Expedition pulled into the path of a 2001 Western Star Dump truck that was traveling westbound at this location. The driver of the truck, identified as William Coyne, 51, of Jacksonville, was unable to avoid the vehicle, striking the Expedition on the driver’s side. The Expedition was then knocked into the eastbound lanes in front of a 1985 motorhome driven by Mark R. Little, 52, of Imperial Beach Calif. The motorhome and the expedition both came to rest in the roadway, while the dump truck flipped onto its side, spilling the load of rock it was carrying. Miller was taken to Rogue Valley Medical Center where she was in serious condition. A passenger in the vehicle, 4-year-old Samantha Guzman of White City, was pronounced dead at the scene. Two other passengers in the Expedition, James Guzman, 6, and Amanda Guzman, 28, also of White City, were also taken to Rogue valley Medical Center and were in stable condition. Little and his passenger Colleen E. Thompson, 53, also of Imperial Beach, were also taken to Rogue Valley Medical Center and in stable condition. Coyne was treated and released from the hospital.
