SOU's Maguin pockets fourth CCC honor Comment DailyTidings.com Writer Posted Apr. 21, 2015 at 2:00 AM Posted Apr. 21, 2015 at 2:00 AM » Social News Amelia Maguin and Markus Sanders on Monday were voted Cascade Conference Red Lion Athletes of the Week following their performances at Saturday's SOU Raider Open. Maguin, a senior from Fernley, Nev., was tapped for the women's track honor for the fourth time this season. She ran the 200 meters in 24.60 seconds, breaking the Raider program record of 24.97 (established in 2001 by Tiwana Merritt) and qualifying automatically for the NAIA Championships in a fourth individual discipline this season. She later helped SOU's 4x800-meter relay team to an 'A' standard and another school record with a time of 9:22.16. She also won the 100 hurdles in 14.88 and was part of a victorious 4x100 team (49.97). On the NAIA performance lists Maguin ranks 12th in the 200, seventh in the 400 (55.98), 12th in the 100 hurdles (14.59) and first in the 400 hurdles (59.07). Sanders, a senior from Modesto, Calif., won the hammer (193 feet 3 inches) and the discus (176-9), missing school records by less than two feet in both disciplines and improving on 'A' marks he had already established. An All-American in both disciplines in 2014, he shot to second and third on the hammer and discus performance lists, upping his previous hammer mark by over 14 feet. — SOU Sports Information.
