I know Rep. Bates has and is working hard to ensure that the poor in need of mental health services will have access to them through the Oregon Health Plan. He does so even though this is a constituency whose voice has not always been a loud one. He does this because he cares about our most vulnerable citizens and because he realizes that all of us are hurt when our needy are not adequately served. With Alan Bates advancing to the State Senate, we are blessed to have Peter Buckley as a strong replacement for Alan in the House. Peter is an engaging and articulate man who will work effectively with Republicans in the House to find solutions for Oregon's many--and growing--problems. He will work for us and with us, and he will energize the moderates of both parties. Please join me in supporting Peter Buckley for State Representative. Alice J. Rutter Ashland Tranzpo seeks more support Projects that require an entire community's participation are rare. We, as members of this unique community, feel that attempts to promote progressive social change should receive support. Tranzpo is such an attempt. Ashland residents, as well as tourists, will receive an alternatively-fueled, free-to-ride taxi service. This will reduce traffic in the town, which is rapidly growing, as well as cut back on pollution. As a non-profit organization, Tranzpo requires funding. We ask you to consider the world you wish to live in, and how Ashland can be an example of that ideal.
