--> --> Expos halt Giants' winning streak MONTREAL (AP) - Javier Vazquez is being held to a pretty high standard. Vazquez pitched eight crisp innings and Orlando Cabrera and Vladimir Guerrero each had three hits to lead the Montreal Expos to a 6-3 win over San Francisco on Friday night, ending the Giants' season-high seven-game winning streak. Vazquez (2-2) scattered six hits - including a leadoff homer and an RBI single by David Bell - for his second win in three starts. "Vazquez is better than that," Giants manager Dusty Baker said. "I've seen him sharper than that. He wasn't as sharp as we've seen him before. He has good stuff." Fernando Tatis hit his second homer in the second, and Montreal scored four runs off Livan Hernandez (4-3) in the third to take a 5-2 lead. "We haven't been getting those runs early for Javy and giving him something to work with, and tonight we did and this is what he's capable of doing when you get him some runs," Expos manager Frank Robinson said. Montreal won its second straight after a season-high six-game losing streak. Barry Bonds went 0-for-3 with a walk for San Francisco. "I wish I didn't have to face him, but that's part of the ballgame," Vazquez said. "You're going to face tough hitters in the major leagues. There are a lot of great hitters in the majors and Bonds is one of the best. You just have to pitch him carefully and today I tried to mix up all my pitches." Trailing 2-1, Endy Chavez started Montreal's third-inning rally with a leadoff double before scoring the tying run on Jose Vidro's RBI single. Vidro advanced to third on Guerrero's single and scored the go-ahead run on an RBI single by Troy O'Leary, who made his Expos debut after being called up from Triple-A Ottawa on Wednesday. Guerrero, who went to third on O'Leary's single, scored on Tatis' double-play grounder. Lee Stevens walked and scored from first to put Montreal up by three on Cabrera's RBI double into the right-field corner. "I had one bad inning, and that's the ballgame," Hernandez said. The Expos got another run on Tatis' double-play grounder in the fifth. T.J. Tucker worked the ninth and allowed an RBI double by Tsuyoshi Shinjo. Vazquez set down 14 of 15 following Bell's RBI single in the third - Bonds drew a one-out walk in the sixth - before Benito Santiago singled to center with two outs in the seventh. Santiago tried for a double and was thrown out by center fielder Chavez to end the inning. Hernandez allowed six runs and nine hits in five innings and lost his third straight decision after winning his first four starts of the season. Notes: Bell's homer was the Giants' first leading off a game since last Sept. 28, when Marvin Benard did it. ... Expos 1B Andres Galarraga had extensive tests performed on his back this week by Dr. Steve Rosen, the Chicago-based oncologist who handled Galarraga's treatment for non-Hodgkins Lymphoma in 1999. Expos assistant general manager Tony Siegle said no trace of cancer had been found, with the results of one final test yet to come. Galarraga, on the 15-day disabled list with a lower back strain, is expected to rejoin the team Saturday. Email your...
