They returned park benches to the plaza. After months of waiting for park benches to be repaired and returned to the downtown Plaza, more than 20 local people — eqipped with hammers, saws and rough lumber and calling themselves the “Park Bench Brigade” — met there on Wednesday afternoon and built three new ones. more ... Like few other issues (abortion might qualify), this problem is profoundly complex, clearly divisive, and does not lend itself to easy CNN sound bite analysis. If there is a middle ground it will be geography not easily reached as positions harden and the rhetoric heats up. As the debate is framed, what is striking is that there is so little discussion about causation. MOVIES: NOW PLAYING Havura hosts class on Judaism and Christianity Beginning Sunday at 7:30 p.m. there will be a six-week historic interfaith study course entitled “Roots and Branches.” The class will consist of Christians and Jews tackling the difficult issues of anti-Semitism, and the future of our shared vision to make the world a better place. The course will answer questions such as: What are the Jewish roots of the “Our father” prayer? What are the Jewish roots of the Eucharist? What did the notions of heaven, salvation, and redemption mean to religious Jews in the first century? What were the causes of Christian anti-Semitism?
