Reference is made to the actor's Memorandum dated may
27, 1936 transmitting photost ic pies of two dred and forty--
four pages of the typewritten graphy of Al apone's Life in .
Atlanta ?enitentiary", togeth with a photos tic copy of a type-
written letter addressed t al Detective ory Magazine, dated
April 29, 1935, and signed F1'Barrett"; a hotostatic copy of a
typewritten letter addressed to Mr. R. i dickam, dated May 10,
1955, and signed "F. Barrett"; and numerous photostatic copies of
newspaper clippings regarding Al Capone; prisoners photographs, and
prison records of the United States Penitentiary at Atlanta, -
Georgia.
As requested the typewriting appearing on the photostatic
copies of the "Biography of Al Capone's Life in Atlanta Penitentiary"
was compared with the typewriting on the photostatic copies of the '
letters from F. Barrett to Real Detective Story Magazine and M. R.
W. Mickam and the examiner finds that these three specimens were
written on the same typewriter which is a Royal equipped with Elite
type. The typewriting on none of the other specimens ubmitted is
similar to the typewriting in the Biography or on the letters signed
"F. Barrett". -
The specimens submitted will be retained in the Laboratory's
file for use in any subsequent examinations which may be desired.
