- The subject of this letter, JESSICA LUCY TREUHAFT, was born in Morton,
Marsh, England on September ll, 1917. She entered the United States at New York
City on March 2, 1939. She became a citizen of the United States by the process
of naturalization on January 3, 19th in the United States District Court, San
Francisco, Calif.
A review of the files of this office reveals that the subject is now a
h been an active member member of92the Communist Party in Oakland, Calif. She as s
. of the Comunist Barty in San Francisco and_Cakland since January, 19th, the
h ' which she was admitted to citizenship in the United States.i She same mont in v ,
was, until very recently, the San Francisco County Financial Director of the
' ' t s. She has been a leader Communist Party, a full-time JOb at party headquar er
in obtaining funds for the party, especially in the recent drive for the Partyis
"Fighting Fund".
Informants have reported that the subject was active in the Communist Party
and its affairs while she was employed by the United States Government in the
Office of Price Administration but waited until after she had received her United
- States citizenship prior to actually becoming a member of the Party. The Subject
worked for the Office of Price Administration until December 15, l9h3, during
which time she was Kory active in union activities, and was considered a Communist
by some of her superiors. The subject is'alleged to have given $2,000 to the
London Daily Worker, but the date of this gift is not known at this time.
In view of this information, and in view of the subjectis background,
which is a matter of record at the Bureau, it is felt that the subjectis name
should be presented to the Attorney General as the subject of a denaturalization
case, and subsequent deportation.
