Fouls hurt Tornado in 72-59 loss EUGENE Foul trouble plagued the North Medford boys basketball team on Monday and sent it to a 72-59 loss to South Eugene. It was the Black Tornados fourth defeat in as many games. North Medford guards Ben Anderson and Thomas OBrien went to the bench with foul problems in the second quarter, leaving the Black Tornado defenseless against Axemen guard Marty Larson-Xu. "Once we got in foul trouble, he got on a roll," said North Medford coach Gene Quilhaugh of the lanky Larson-Xu, who scored 22 points. "Both Anderson and OBrien are good defensive guards, so we didnt really have an answer for him." Despite falling behind by as many as 18 points in the second period, North Medford rallied behind Gabe Burchfiels 10 points in the quarter to climb within 44-36 at the half. A nine-point effort in the third for North, however, helped seal the win for South Eugene. Anderson finished with 16 points to lead the Black Tornado while Burchfiel tallied a double-double with 15 points and 11 rebounds.
