Now the fee for the parking permit is being raised by $3 per month and MURA has announced plans for a new structure with 400 additional spaces. I’m curious why there is a rate increase and new parking structure development when the existing space can’t be filled. Thanks. — Michael B., Medford Thanks for your questions, Michael. We passed them along to Medford Urban Renewal Director Don Burt. As far as the rate increase, he said it is to keep pace with maintenance and management costs for public parking. He said that the current parking structure is currently fully leased. He said MURA does monitor the parking structure and the agency is aware that there are empty spaces on the top deck, but people are paying for those spaces. Advertisement As far as the proposed new parking structure, he said it is being designed to accommodate the cars that currently park at that site, which is a dirt lot.
