Wife charged with killing her husband By JESSICA SMITH A Shady Cove woman whose husband was found buried outside a Trail-area home has confessed to the killing, Jackson County Sheriff's deputies said. Deputies arrested Dawn Roble-Baker, 45, Wednesday afternoon after a three-week investigation into the death of her husband, Jack Dee Baker. "We interviewed her at the Oregon State Police headquarters, and she eventually admitted she was responsible for his death," said Detective Sgt. Rich Fogarty. Investigators charged Roble-Baker with murder. Late Wednesday, she was being held without bail at the Jackson County Jail. Fogarty said Baker's death was not the result of a domestic dispute. A Trail man discovered Baker's skeletal remains March 12 as he cleared blackberry bushes near his home on Busch Road, about a half-mile east of the Rogue River Lodge on Highway 62. The remains were hidden under some pipes, buried in a sleeping bag, deputies said. An autopsy performed on the remains failed to identify Baker, who apparently died in January 1997, when he was 45. Baker apparently was never reported missing, Fogarty said. Investigators learned Baker had no contact with his family, including his two children from previous marriages. "Nobody missed him," Fogarty said. But investigators zeroed in on Baker after tracing former tenants of the Busch Road home, a rental property where the Bakers lived in 1997. Fogarty said Baker matched the victim's description. Investigators located dental records in Portland that "positively, 100 percent" identified the victim as Baker, Fogarty said.
