A day later, driver Jaime Pena-Gallegas, 27, of Centralia, and Gerardo Flores, 43, of Rochester, remain in the Jackson County Jail on charges of the manufacture, delivery and possession of methamphetamine. Both were arraigned Tuesday in Jackson County Circuit Court and are held on $500,000 bail, court records show. Both have preliminary hearings set for Jan. 8. At 12:24 a.m. near milepost 29, Oregon State Police Trooper Ryan Neuenschwander stopped a northbound green Honda Accord for driving 11 miles over the speed limit, a probable cause affidavit says. The affidavit states Pena-Gallegas failed to present a driver's license and that Neuenschwander suspected the car was stolen. Three cell phones were also visible in the car. The affidavit says Neuenschwander received conflicting stories about where the two men were coming from and where they were headed. He received written consent to search the vehicle. The affidavit states a search of the vehicle immediately found one package of methamphetamine under the front passenger seat and that both men were taken into custody. Afterward, Flores allegedly admitted having 11 additional packages in the trunk, and officers found those packages. The search netted a total of 14.67 pounds of the drugs, the affidavit states.
