Fire damages house Mail Tribune / Drew Fleming Medford firefighter John Murphy pauses for a much-needed drink after fighting a fire in the attic of a Piccadilly Circle home. No one was home at the time of the Saturday evening blaze. Fire officials had no estimate on the "significant" damage to the structure and its contents. No one home; cause under investigation A fire caused considerable damage to a single-story house in east Medford Saturday evening. The blaze, in the 400 block of Piccadilly Circle, burned through the attic before firefighters were able to douse the flames. The owners were not home at the time of the fire. A next-door neighbor, who reported the incident at 5:37 p.m., heard the smoke detector and saw light smoke coming from the house, according to Medford fire Planning Chief Larry Anderson. At press time, the cause was under investigation. Sabina Gallego and Tim Sisco, who live across the street, were among the first to see the blaze. Gallego said she saw small flames coming out the front window and that within two minutes they were pouring out. When firefighters arrived at 5:41 p.m., a large amount of smoke and fire was pushing out along the eaves at the front of the residence, Anderson said. Sisco estimated the flames were 15 to 20 feet high. Firefighters brought the blaze under control within 10 minutes, Anderson said. Neighbors watched as firefighters used chainsaws and other tools to hack through the roof and catch any remaining flames. The fire caused significant damage to the structure as well as the contents of the house, Anderson said. A dollar estimate of the damage was not available at press time. Four engines � including 13 firefighters, two staff chiefs and a shift commander � responded to the scene. No injuries were sustained by any firefighting personnel.
