Boosey, Jackson county's best known litigant, died at Sacred Heart hospital May 5, age 76, and his body shipped to Roseburg for burial. Relatives made application Friday of the county court for the shipment of the body to Canada at county expense. Boosey was born in Kent county, England, and the news of his death was not given the usual publicity at the request of relatives. He is survived by two daughters and a son. Boosey owned a strip of land five miles northwest of Medford. In a pioneer survey, a strip of valueless land bordered on the section that was used as a road. Boosey claimed this strip and moved his fence to embrace it. His action was contested and for five years the fight for the land was carried through the justice and civil courts and finally to the state supreme court. Boosey lost in every court, and then tried to invoke the aid of the British ambassador at Washington, without success. Assault and contempt proceedings were side issues in the long drawn out "line fence" fight, and the county court involved. Boosey to the last never gave up hope of winning the disputed land whose value was practically nil. Of late the controversy ebbed, but for month was a burning issue, and was southern Oregon's greatest fence dispute. PURKEYPILE NOT IN CLASS PRANK Clinton Purkeypile, a high school graduate named in the senior class prank that brought a weed pulling penalty, was not in the group that, in a burst of school spirit, took business signs for their play. Purkeypile has left for the east where he will enter Cornell. Other members of the class, whether present or not, will assume their share of the penalty as an evidence of class loyalty. Griffith Cowgill is among this number. The final act of the graduating class was to paint their class numerals on the high school tower last night.
