Wednesday Apr 4, 2018 at 9:07 AM Apr 4, 2018 at 2:19 PM Update, 2:13 p.m.: A man accused of shooting another man in the hip early this morning in Shady Cove has turned himself in. Kaleb Patrick Harris, 29, called dispatch at 12:12 p.m. today and said he wanted to turn himself in, a Jackson County sheriff’s release said. He was located by deputies on Highway 62 near Maple Street in Shady Cove. Harris was taken into custody without incident, the release said. Charges are still pending as detectives continue the investigation. 9:07 a.m. A Shady Cove man was shot in the hip early this morning in the 2500 block of Indian Creek Road, the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office said. Toby Tyler Bicknell, 37, whom the sheriff’s office described as a transient in the Shady Cove area, was flown by Mercy Flights helicopter to Asante Rogue Regional Medical Center, where he is receiving treatment for his injury, the sheriff’s office said in a release today. Witnesses said the shooting occurred shortly before 1 a.m. during an altercation between Bicknell and 29-year-old Kaleb Harris, also a Shady Cove transient, the sheriff’s office said. Harris has also been known to frequent the Butte Falls and Trail areas. Detectives recovered a 9 mm handgun they believe was used in the shooting but are still looking for Harris, the release said. He is 5-foot-10, weighs about 165 pounds and has brown hair, brown eyes and a reddish-brown beard. Detectives are seeking the public’s help in locating Harris.
