Central Ave. The concert runs from 1 to 2, and Santa will make a surprise visit following the performance to give each child attending the event a book. Stone Salmon Spiral Transformation: In recognition of the winter solstice, volunteers will help North Mountain Park staff transform the Stone Salmon Spiral into in-stream habitat for salmon and other aquatic wildlife from 4 to 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 18, at North Mountain Park Nature Center, 620 N. Mountain Ave., Ashland. Participants will walk the spiral one last time and then deconstruct it. Gloves will be provided, but participants should be dressed for cold weather and rock moving. John Nilsen: The Portland-based solo pianist and recording artist will present his annual series of holiday concerts in the Rogue Valley. Nilsen tours the country playing his arrangements of holiday classics, some boogie-woogie, jazz and songs from his prolific repertoire. His newest CD, "Wild Rose," was released in 2013 on his Magic Wing label. Tickets cost $55 for the dinner and show, $75 for a VIP pass, and doors open at 7 p.m. General admission costs $25 and is available at 9 p.m. The event will feature a full bar and is closed to ages 20 and younger. 'Flamenco Nights: Gypsy Fire': Flamenco guitarists Robert Boyd and Grant Ruiz, percussionist Terry Longshore and dancer Elena Villa will perform traditional flamenco music and dance from the south of Spain and original instrumentals by Boyd from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, Dec. 19, at Paschal Winery, 1122 Suncrest Road, Talent.
