SINCE YOU ASKED Since You Asked: Carerra Motors is gone, but not forgotten Comment MailTribune.com Writer Posted Oct. 19, 2015 at 12:01 AM Posted Oct. 19, 2015 at 12:01 AM » Social News I noticed that Carrera Motors on Highway 62 seems to be no more. All the cars are gone from the lot and showroom. They had some gorgeous cars over the past few years, and as a sports car owner I appreciated their participation in the Medford Cruise activities. What happened? — Ron L., Eagle Point Although the used car sales lot is gone, local auto-retail insiders tell us the site at 1492 Burlcrest Drive, off Crater Lake Highway, may soon be occupied by a new car dealership. But first to your question, Ron. Carrera Motors was a remnant of a Bend-based auto dealership owned by the late Tom Anderson. Anderson began selling cars in Central Oregon in 1982 and had a fondness for Porsches, and the local operation reflected his love for European luxury automobiles. He expanded to the Rogue Valley and began selling used high-performance and luxury vehicles in May 2012, but sold the rest of the Carrera Motors franchises to Eugene-based Kendall Auto Group in February 2014. Karen Anderson kept the Medford car sales showroom and lot going for more than a year after her husband's death before shuttering the operation. While auto dealers don't mind having multiple brands from multiple manufacturers under the same roof, auto makers don't necessarily share the same sentiment. We're told the local Volvo and Mitsubishi franchises, presently sharing space under the same roof as the local Subaru dealership, may soon be rolling from Biddle Road to the other side of the airport in the space formerly housing Carrera Motors. That would place Volvo and Mitsubishi lots next to the new Lithia Volkswagen and BMW shops. Send questions to “Since You Asked,” Mail Tribune Newsroom, P.O.
