Jeffers Sports Center. The Raiders (12-12, 7-3 Cascade Conference) shot just 36 percent (25 of 70), including 5 of 22 from 3-point range, in the school's first Cascade road loss in five outings. "We were never able to find any offensive rhythm," said SOU coach Brian McDermott. "We got into foul trouble early, which hurt us. Our backups came in and played real hard, but we were too out of it." The Raiders held former South Medford star Eric Fiegi — the NAIA’s third-leading scorer at 26.8 per game — to 21 points, but were unable to stop transfer Jeff Dunn, who tallied a game-high 25 points. "They’re a great offensive team, and they’re starting to put it together on defense," McDermott said. "They’re a hard team to beat, especially at home." Advertisement Sophomore guard Ryan Gabel came off the bench to lead SOU with 17 points, and Peter Nelson added 12. Sophomore forward Shea Washington was held to 11 points and six rebounds. Center Nick Borrevik also tallied 11 points and six boards. Things came unglued for SOU when Washington was saddled with his fourth foul and the visitors trailing, 45-35, with 12 minutes remaining. Three Raider technical fouls and an ejection occurred during the next six minutes as WBC used a 26-9 run to lead by 27, 71-44, with six minutes to play. Junior forward Travis Elam broke his nose early in the first half and was taken to a Salem hospital. Women’s Basketball WESTERN BAPTIST 59, SOUTHERN OREGON 51 — At Salem, Western Baptist erased an eight-point halftime deficit, outscoring Southern Oregon 27-6 in the first 13 minutes of the second half, en route to the Cascade Conference victory. The Raiders (5-12, 4-6 Cascade) dropped their fourth straight and remained winless on the road in eight efforts. SOU led 32-24 at the half, but a 3-pointer by Lindsy Brownell capped the Warriors' second-half surge and gave the hosts a 51-38 advantage with 6:50 remaining. Southern cut the lead to 57-51 with 53 seconds left, but the Raiders missed the front end of one-and-ones twice in the closing minute with an opportunity to tighten the gap. Freshman Robyn Ward paced the Raiders with 13 points and 10 rebounds.
