So for now, he’s keeping the bad news to himself. What would you do if your boss was in Mexico on a fishing trip, and you found out burglars had crashed a pickup into his shop and stole valuable merchandise before fleeing? "I’m not going to call him and ruin his vacation," explained Bogart, a Medford Pawn employee. "He’s down there fishing. What can he do?" Early Monday, Bogart was notified that two men drove a stolen Ford Courier pickup through the front doors of the pawn shop on the corner of 13th Street and Riverside Avenue. Abandoning the truck inside the store, they grabbed five guns before running from the scene to complete the "crash-and-dash" burglary. "They rammed it in here backwards," Bogart said. "It knocked the doors about 30 feet in." Advertisement When he arrived at work, Bogart saw the wreck had caused significant damage to the store. Several televisions had been knocked to the floor and shards of glass were strewn throughout the business. The shop’s brand-new carpet was torn up. "It was definitely a major mess," he said. "And to top it all off, the truck leaked oil all over the floor." Although they left the shop in shambles, investigators believe the intruders knew exactly what they were doing. "It looked like a very well-planned event," Medford police Lt. Mike Moran said. "They spent very little time inside the business." A witness told police he saw the burglars, dressed in dark clothing, running west from the pawn shop after the incident. A police dog tracked them to a spot near the corner of Monroe and South Fir streets, where investigators believe the burglars jumped into another vehicle and drove away, Moran said. Bogart’s boss isn’t expected back in Medford until next week. When he arrives at the pawn shop, the first thing he’ll notice is that the business’ glass doors have been replaced after being shattered in the burglary. "His key won’t work in the new door," Bogart said. "He’s going to think he’s been evicted." Despite the mess, Medford Pawn kept regular business hours on Monday and Tuesday, Bogart said.
