Police report on Umpqua mass shooting delayed again Saturday Dec 24, 2016 at 10:56 AM Dec 24, 2016 at 10:56 AM Ian Campbell Roseburg News-Review The FBI provided more information Friday about its report that is holding up the release of the Umpqua Community College shooting police investigation. The FBI said it is working on an analysis of the “events and issues that may have led to the shooting.” "The analysis is not a ‘profile’ of the offender, per se, but rather is a law enforcement-sensitive analysis that is intended to help understand behavioral patterns, warning signs and other factors,” said Beth Anne Steele, a spokeswoman for the FBI. Steele said the work is ongoing and there is no timeline for its completion. Once the report is completed, it will be sent to the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office. Once completed, the analysis also will be incorporated into a larger body of research that looks into what drives these types of incidents. Despite previous plans to release the report by the one-year anniversary of the shooting and later plans to release the report by the end of 2016 — both of which did not come to fruition — the sheriff’s office said earlier this week it now anticipates to be able to release the investigation by early 2017.
