Jackson County reports 156 new COVID-19 cases, 2 deaths By Mail Tribune staff Updated: Sep 10, 2021 03:47 PM A A Jackson County reported 156 new COVID-19 cases and two more deaths Friday. A 78-year-old Jackson County man tested positive Aug. 13 and died Sept. 8 at Asante Ashland Community Hospital, and a 53-year-old Jackson County woman tested positive Aug. 20 and died Sept. 9 at Providence Medford Medical Center. Both had underlying conditions, according to the Oregon Health Authority. Josephine County reported 77 new COVID-19 cases Friday and five more deaths. The deaths occurred in men who were 47, 63, 76, 80 and 81 years old. Officials were still trying to determine whether the 47- and 76-year-old men had underlying conditions Friday. The other men had underlying conditions, OHA said. Statewide, 2,453 new COVID-19 cases and 20 more deaths were reported Friday, pushing state totals for the pandemic to 296,825 cases and 3,414 deaths. Other counties reporting deaths Friday were Crook (2), Clackamas (1), Lane (1), Lincoln (2), Marion (1), Multnomah (3) and Yamhill (3).
