Phone survey tactic reeks of criminal involvement The Josephine County Sheriff's Office is warning people about a suspicious telephone survey in which the caller asks for personal information. Police got a complaint Wednesday about a survey involving a business called Miracle Mate, or Miracle Maid. The female caller wanted to know the ages of people living in the home, their occupations, major credit cards, makes/models of home appliances, and other information. When the resident asked the business' name again, the caller said "Keep in mind Miracle Mate" (or Miracle Maid) and hung up. Authorities remind people that not all phone surveys are legitimate, and to be cautious about giving out such personal information. Criminals have used this tactic in the past to set up a burglary or to get credit card account information. People who want to give information to a person conducting a survey should get a call-back number from the caller, and try to verify the business is legitimate.
