Police said Ronald Stephen "Ron" Glick, 35, killed 28-year-old Dawn Elizabeth Glick in her home at 1680 E. Spring St. while the couple’s 3-year-old son was in the house, then left with the son in the dead woman’s Toyota Land Cruiser. Glick then drove to his parents’ home on the Greensprings Highway, where his behavior caused family members to be concerned about Dawn Glick’s safety, Medford police Lt. Mike Moran said. Family members then notified police, who later found Dawn Glick’s body in a bedroom about 10:30 a.m., said Moran. He refused to say how police believe Dawn Glick was murdered or whether a weapon was used. Ron Glick was detained at his parents’ home, then arrested Monday evening on a charge of murder — Jackson County’s first homicide arrest in 2003. Glick was the former owner of Par Mortgage Co., which he had recently sold but where he still worked. Acquaintances said Dawn Glick was a stay-at-home mother who recently began working in a Medford bank after the couple separated. They lived with their children at 272 Island Point Road in an upscale and gated northeast Medford community. Moran said Dawn Glick moved to the East Spring Street home when they separated, and that she had custody of the children. The couple were married eight years ago but divorce proceedings began in November. They were in the midst of a custody battle over their son and 8-year-old daughter, court records show. They were scheduled to appear in Jackson County Circuit Court Monday for a child-custody hearing, but Moran stopped short of saying that was a motive for the slaying. "That’s one of the things we’re looking into," Moran said Monday night. "We’re talking to various friends about their marriage and things from their past." Dawn Glick’s divorce attorney, Craig Galpern, declined to comment Monday about the couple’s relationship without discussing it with her friends and family. Moran said the couple’s daughter was away from home at the time of the murder. An autopsy was scheduled for today to determine the cause and manner of her death, Moran said. Police declined to reveal the time they believe Dawn Glick was killed, what kind of wounds she suffered or any other details about the crime scene. Neighbor Mike Barnum said Dawn Glick had recently moved into the home, but that she kept to herself. Barnum, whose machine shop shared Glick’s driveway, said he heard no unusual noises Monday but noticed a light-colored SUV pulling out of the driveway some time after 8 a.m.. "It was just one of those things you see, but don’t think anything of it," Barnum said. "It’s not like anyone went tearing out of there." A short while later, "there were police all over the place," Barnum said. When Ron Glick appeared at his parents’ home with the couple’s son and in her white Land Cruiser, it triggered some concerns for Dawn, Moran said. The Land Cruiser was impounded, and Moran said Ron Glick had been cooperating with investigators as of Monday evening. Dawn Glick’s home was surrounded by crime-scene tape, with detectives and evidence technicians going in and out regularly throughout the day. Detectives photographed impressions in the gravel driveway while Dawn Glick’s white slippers sat on her porch. Investigators closed a portion of Spring Street during part of the morning.
