The election ends tonight at 8. Mail Tribune / Bob Pennell Measure 30 voting ends today Voter turnout in Jackson County is less than initially expected, with 50 percent of ballots turned in by Monday for Measure 30. "I was predicting anywhere from 55-60 percent," said County Clerk Kathy Beckett. "It really started falling off this weekend." The state voter turnout rate is 48 percent. Last year, 64 percent of voters had sent in ballots for Measure 28, another tax proposal. Voters are deciding the fate of a referendum on the Legislature’s $800 million tax increase plan to balance the state’s $11.5 billion budget. If voters support the plan, it would include a three-year-temporary tax increase and several other taxes to avoid $544 million in cuts to education, health care, senior services and public safety.
