Medford police and medical personnel responded to the 1300 block of Prune Street at 8:12 p.m. after a 911 call reported a man had been shot at that location, according to a police news release. Responders found the man lying on the sidewalk with multiple gunshot wounds. A passerby who used to be a combat medic and had a medical bag with him was tending to the man's injuries. The 22-year-old was transported to a local hospital with "life-threatening" injuries, police said. At about 11 p.m. Tuesday, police said the man was still listed in critical condition. His name has not yet been released. Whether the incident is gang-related is still under investigation. So far, Medford police and the Medford Area Drug and Gang Enforcement Team have determined the man was standing on the sidewalk on the south side of Prune Street when a vehicle drove past, traveling westbound. Someone inside the vehicle fired multiple shots, striking the man, before the car sped off in an unknown direction. The vehicle is described by witnesses as a white sedan, similar in style to a Chevrolet Monte Carlo. The vehicle was lowered and had larger-sized tires. It is not known how many people were inside it during the shooting, and a license plate number was not available. The shooting is the fourth such incident reported in west Medford in just over a month, though it is the first of the four resulting in injuries. A drive-by shooting was reported in the 500 block of Edwards Street Sept. 9 when gunshots punched holes in a fence and home where at least two people live. No suspect information is available in that case. On Sept. 16, police say 17-year-old Tyler Sandoval fired three shots at an apartment complex stairwell in the 1000 block of Narregan Street. Sandoval and suspected cohort Santiago Flores-Loveland, 18, remain at large, though three additional arrests of men who were allegedly present during the shooting were made. The third shooting was reported Sept. 20 near the intersection of Iowa and Narregan streets when a man fired twice at an area resident who had spotted their vehicle driving slowly around the neighborhood and eventually parking. The shooter and two others in the car wore dark hooded sweatshirts, though no additional description was available.
