Since You Asked: Restaurants aren't required to clean billing computers Saturday Feb 24, 2018 at 12:01 AM My wife and I ate dinner at a local restaurant last Friday. My table provided a view into the servers prep area and their touchscreen order or billing computer. The angled reflection showed the fingerprints all over the screen. I'm wondering if there are health department rules about cleaning them. — Steve, Central Point Restaurants aren't required to clean their computer screens, but servers are supposed to be washing their hands frequently, says Jackson County Environmental Public Health Manager Chad Petersen. "They should be washing their hands in between touching the screen and contacting any food or food contact surfaces," he says. Food contact surfaces include items such as plates, Petersen says.
