Tiny bubbles in the water made by air in the line Sep 11, 2003 12:00 AM A A If you have noticed milky water coming out of your tap, or what looks like carbonated water in your drinking glass, it's probably a common harmless ingredient: air. The Medford Water Commission has a sporadically malfunctioning pump at Big Butte Springs that is being fixed. It has let some air into the water line, according to Laura Hodnett, public information coordinator at the commission. The air does not affect the quality of the water, and it is still safe to drink, she said. The commission has received some calls from concerned customers since the tiny bubbles were first noticed Sept. 6, she said, but they all report that the water quickly becomes clear.
