Umpqua Hot Springs shut down by E. coli By The Associated Press Sep 24, 2015 12:00 AM A A SALEM — A popular hot springs in southern Oregon has been shut down after tests revealed high levels of the bacterium E. coli. The Statesman Journal reports ( http://is.gd/78xUhy ) that federal officials say Umpqua Hot Springs near Roseburg is closed to swimming, soaking and wading until further notice. Umpqua National Forest officials plan to test the water at a later date. They will notify the public once testing is complete and it's safe to enter the hot springs.
