First Friday Art Walk Stroll the galleries, studios and restaurants and take in the visual and flavorful delights in downtown Ashland and the Historic Railroad District, as well as some locations in south Ashland, from 5 to 8 p.m. the first Friday of every month. This free, year-round community event is filled with a diverse array of artwork, live music, artist demonstrations, refreshments and conversation. Art walk maps are available at any of the venues. Main St., Ashland, features art and crafts of the indigenous peoples in North and South America. The gallery will be open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Sunday. Throughout December, see photography by Doremus Scudder in the exhibition “The American West.” Art & Soul Ashland, located at 247 E. Art du Jour Gallery: See exhibits by local artists in myriad mediums such as watercolor, oil, acrylic, pastel, pen-and-ink, Conté crayon, collage, sculpture, photography, mixed media and more. The Main Gallery will feature member artists’ interpretations of the winter season through Dec. 31. The Art Vault will feature the work of Karl Brake, faculty member of the Visual Arts and Design Department at Rogue Community College. The gallery, located at 213 E. Fifth St., Jacksonville. Work by regional artists will be shown in the gallery’s annual exhibit “Angel Show,” which features artists’ interpretations of angels in a variety of mediums, along with woodwork by member artist of the month, Chris Anderson. Both exhibitions will be on display through December. The Main Gallery will exhibit new work by member artists in a variety of mediums including oil, pastel, watercolor, acrylic and fabric. Ashland Art Works: The gallery features work of local artists in a variety of mediums, including ceramics, woodwork, fiber arts, jewelry, and garden art. December’s exhibition “Holiday Showcase,” features a diverse selection of artwork made by each member artist. The art collective, at 291 Oak St., Ashland, will be open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursdays through Saturdays, and from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesdays and Sundays. Enclave Studios: Enclave Studios, located at 1661 Siskiyou Blvd. #3, Ashland, is the studio and gallery space of several local artists and currently features new paintings by Gabriel Mark Lipper, Jay Gordon, Nicole Wasgatt, and Corey Kahn. The exhibition covers everything from portraits, to still life florals, to abstract landscapes. The gallery will be open from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, Dec. 2, for Ashland’s First Friday Art Walk, or by appointment only. Artists will be present during the First Friday event. Exhibits include sewing, dyeing, knitting, crocheting, embroidering and felting to binding, collaging, painting, printing, stenciling, beading and creating assemblage pieces. Running through Dec. 17, see the annual Membership Exhibition, highlighting work by over 100 member artists. The museum will be open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesdays through Saturdays, and by appointment. Admission to the museum is free. The retail gallery, Gallery One, located at street-level of the museum, features the work of approximately 60 local artists. Hanson Howard Gallery: The gallery, located at 89 Oak St., Ashland, features works in an array of mediums including painting, sculpture, ceramics and fine art prints. Running through Dec. 31, see the Gallery Artists Gift Salon, which features a variety of diverse work —from fun to reverent, small and large, 2D and 3D — by the gallery’s member artists. Oak Leaf Studio: Located between Hanson Howard Gallery and Ashland Art Works at 247 Oak St., Ashland, Oak Leaf Studio is the working and gallery space of local artist Leif Trygg, who works in a variety of media such as pastel, watercolor, acrylic and digital imaging. Bartlett St., Medford, will be open from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Mondays through Fridays, and 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturdays. The Main Gallery will show work by member artists in the exhibit “Signs and Symbols,” on display through Dec. 22. Sculptures and mixed media works by featured artist Lucille Linville will be shown in the exhibit “Small Beginnings,”on display through Dec. 2, in the Community Gallery. Schneider Museum of Art: Southern Oregon University’s Schneider Museum of Art Fall Exhibitions feature contemporary abstract art by Mel Prest, “The Golden Hour,” and curated exhibit “Sensate Objects.” The exhibits will be on display through Dec. 10. A solo exhibition of Prest’s work will be in the Main gallery, her curated group exhibition, which features work by thirteen artists will be shown in the Heiter and Treehaven galleries. Masterworks on Loan will also be on display in the Entry Gallery. The gallery, located at 555 Indiana St. Ashland, will be open 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesdays through Saturdays.
