Ortiz, Brown power Rogues to win over Heat By Mail Tribune staff Updated: Jun 20, 2021 11:58 AM A A Omar Ortiz and Jesse Brown each hit two-run home runs out to left field as part of a big seventh-inning surge to lift the Medford Rogues to an 11-6 win over the Sacramento Heat at Harry & David Field Saturday night. The Rogues (9-2), who have now won three straight and will go for the sweep Sunday night, broke a 4-all tie an inning before when Jake Gentry drew a bases-loaded walk. Then came the big seventh inning, with Ortiz putting Medford ahead 7-4 before Brown — who also had a double earlier in the game — added a two-run homer of his own moments later. Gentry finished 2-for-4 with an RBI, while Drew Steelhammer also had two hits, scored a pair of runs and knocked in two, including an RBI triple. The Rogues’ Jackson Hall was 3-for-4 with two runs scored and an RBI. Medford starting pitcher Van Larson pitched the first four innings. He went the first four innings and allowed three runs — none earned — while striking out three. Rogues right-hander Camden Stephens picked up the win after throwing three innings of relief. Sacramento’s Blake Peterson was 3-for-4 with a run scored and 2 RBIs, while Will Linberg went 2-for-4 with a run scored and an RBI.
