If In-N-Out builds here, it would be the first time the company has located in Oregon, and the closest location to Jackson County is Redding, Calif. “We are very enthusiastic about the opportunities in Medford, but our project there is still in the very early stages," Carl Van Fleet, vice president of planning and development for In-N-Out, said in an email response. According to a pre-application the company filed with the city of Medford, the building site would be at 1968 Crater Lake Highway on a one-acre property owned by MYOBY LLC that currently houses a Shell gas station. In-N-Out’s application calls for a 3,750-foot building with 51 parking spaces that is similar in style to its other restaurants, featuring white stucco, a red tile roof and its logo. Van Fleet said nothing had been finalized yet and no start date had been selected. “Once we begin construction on a new restaurant, it usually takes us 4 to 5 months to open for business but we still have a great deal of work to do before we can even project a construction start date,” he said in the email. Medford Deputy City Manager Bill Hoke said In-N-Out is actually looking at multiple locations, and is focusing on a property that is freeway close. “There isn’t anything firm,” he said. What is firm, Hoke said, is that In-N-Out is looking to build a location in Medford. Hoke said he didn’t have any time frame for when In-N-Out hopes to start construction or when it might be completed. The restaurant chain, which sells only hamburgers, fries, shakes and soft drinks, has 301 locations in California, Arizona, Nevada, Utah and Texas, according to its website. California alone has 221 locations.
