A Medford police officer Saturday arrested Castillo on charges of possession of amphetamines and failure to report as a sex offender. He was lodged in the Jackson County Jail, where he remained late Saturday on $15,000 bail. Drugs — James Leroy Carter, 35, of the 600 block of North Grape Street, Medford. A Medford police officer Saturday arrested Carter on charges of possession of amphetamines and a probation violation. He was lodged in jail, where he remained late Saturday on $15,000 bail. Drugs — John Adolph Ziesmer, 43, of the 5600 block of Blackwell Road, Central Point. A Gold Hill police officer late Friday arrested Ziesmer on two counts of possession of amphetamines and failure to appear in court. He was lodged in jail, where he remained late Saturday on $34,000 bail. Drugs — Navira Eleanor Smith, 23, no known address. A Gold Hill police officer late Friday arrested Smith on two counts of possession of amphetamines and failure to appear in court. She was lodged in jail, where she remained late Saturday on $19,000 bail. Theft, burglary — Frank Anthony Saenz, 37, of the first block of Brophy Way, Shady Cove. Saenz made his initial appearance Friday in Jackson County Circuit Court on five counts of second-degree burglary and first-degree aggravated theft. He was booked into jail then released on his own recognizance. Theft — Linda Sue Varner, 50, of the 3000 block of Sheraton Court, Medford. Varner made her initial appearance Friday in Circuit Court on a charge of first-degree theft. She was booked into jail then released on her own recognizance. Advertisement Drugs — Timothy Lawrence Capps, 35, of the 1600 block of Parker Street, Ashland. Capps made his initial appearance Friday in Circuit Court on a charge of possession of amphetamines. He was booked into jail then released on his own recognizance. Drugs — Darol Ray Warnock, 26, of the first block of East South Stage Road, Medford. Warnock made his initial appearance Friday in Circuit Court on charges of manufacturing amphetamines, delivering amphetamines and possession of amphetamines. He was booked into jail then released on his own recognizance. Assault — Coleman Price Nelson, 22, of Portland. Nelson made his initial appearance Friday in Circuit Court on charges of second-degree assault and fourth-degree assault. He was booked into jail then released on his own recognizance. Crime reports Residential burglary — 3400 block of North Pacific Highway, Medford. A Medford police officer Saturday took a report of a burglary in which cash and jewelry valued at $3,600 was taken from a home. Fire calls Fireworks-caused fire — For the second time in as many days, Jackson County Fire District No. 3 crews on Saturday extinguished a grass fire sparked by a child using fireworks illegally. At about 1:10 p.m., firefighters responded to a report of a fire near the Jackson County Sports Park off Kershaw Road. The blaze burned about one-quarter acre of grass before crews extinguished it, Capt. Mike Husse said. Witnesses reported seeing a child playing with fireworks in the area before the fire started. District No. 3 crews on Saturday also extinguished a small fire on Avenue G in White City that started when a sparks from a saw ignited an area of dry grass around a home.
