Since You Asked: Medford didn't have 100-degree February record Saturday Feb 18, 2017 at 12:01 AM During the first week of February, the weather chart showing record highs and lows had one day above 100 degrees. Was that a mistake? Can't imagine that could ever be in February. — Colleen, Trail   We were unable to find a 100-degree record temperature listing for the Medford area in our newspaper weather charts from Feb. 1 through Feb. 14. However, you piqued our curiosity, so we called the National Weather Service in Medford to ask about record temperatures in February. "The record maximum temperature has never gone above 79 degrees in February," said meteorologist Charles Smith. According to NWS data, Medford hit 79 degrees on back-to-back days in 1992, on Feb. 25 and 26. Smith said other parts of the country could have 100-degree record highs in February. "For Medford, no," he said. — Send questions to "Since You Asked," Mail Tribune Newsroom, P.O. Box 1108, Medford, OR 97501; by fax to 541-776-4376; or by email to [email protected].
