Raiders fall prey to Wolves in net tilt ASHLAND � The Western Oregon University volleyball team recovered from a rough start to rally back and snap Southern Oregon University�s 12-game home win streak in four games on Wednesday at McNeal Pavilion. The Wolves committed nine errors in a 15-10 Game 1 loss but rebounded with three straight wins, 15-13, 15-11 and 15-9 to record their 21st consecutive win over SOU dating back to 1991. The Raiders held the advantage in kills (67), digs (100) and service aces (7) but Western committed only 26 errors and out-blocked SOU, 8-4. Freshman middle blocker Kristina Matchett from Klamath Falls led all Raiders with 22 kills in 42 attempts and junior outside hitter Shelley Gorin added 18. Southern appeared to be in command of Game 2 early, taking a 12-8 lead. A trio of Raider attack miscues, however, and clutch kills by Megan Korne and Gwen Kreitzberg allowed the Wolves to score seven of the game�s final eight points. SOU never led in Game 3 and allowed an 8-6, Game 4 lead to dissolve by virtue of four Kym Rohman smashes for Western. Sabrina Garboden amassed 20 digs to lead the Raider back row while setter Jamie Csoros led all players with a career-high 59 assists. The Raiders (3-2) on the season, return to action today at 2 p.m. with a non-conference home contest against Simon Fraser.
