LOCAL ROUNDUP Phoenix-Talent trio key Babe Ruth win over Ashland TALENT -- Travis Dunlap went 3-for-3, drove in three runs and scored two more to lead Phoenix-Talent to an 11-1 Senior Babe Ruth victory over visiting Ashland Tuesday at James-Hagler Field. Dave Westfall contributed two hits and three RBIs to the Phoenix-Talent (15-3) cause. Pitcher Chase Tester scattered four hits in the five-inning victory. South Suburban led 6-0 before Medford tied the game with six runs in the fourth inning. Medford capitalized on five walks and its only hit, a three-run double by Amy Wall. Brittney Anderson relieved Kaitlin Duke in the third inning for Medford and struck out six in four innings. But Anderson was touched for four runs in the fifth on five walks and one hit. Medford finished 3-2 in the tournament, with both loses coming to undefeated Klamath Falls. The Southern Oregon u-17 Select team won three games in pool play, including a victory over No. 2 seed Arizona Fire of Phoenix in the 36-team tournament. S.O. Select topped Coronado of Southern California team, 67-44, beat the Arizona Fire of Phoenix, 59-52, and frolicked past the Arizona Devilcats, 75-27. Southern Oregon plays the Philadelphia Belles, considered the team to beat today followed by a match-up against the Las Vegas Stars. Jackie Woods (Ashland) and Hanna Seltzer (Ashland) and Tennille Bennett (North Medford) topped the team in scoring. Ashley Nelson (North), Tressa Manwaring (North), Jody McLeod (Crater) and Dusty Damon (Eagle Point) were the dominant rebounders.
