A resident of Medford, Holman is a decorated PBA Hall of Famer. He has 22 career tour titles, was the 1987 player of the year and won the George Young High Average Award in 1982, 1984 and 1987. Holman’s last PBA Tour event came last January at the 2004 Medford Open. Holman barely missed the cut to the top 64, finishing in 68th place. In the 2003 Medford Open, Holman advanced to the round of 16 by defeating fellow Hall of Famer Walter Ray Williams Jr., 4-2, before falling to Mike Edwards, 3-0. "I’m very pleased," Holman said about receiving the commissioner’s exemption. "I’m in a no-lose situation. It’s going to be a lot of fun because it will give me an opportunity to see people I worked with for several years. I’m really looking forward to it." Holman, who still ranks eighth on the PBA career money list, has strong ties in the Medford area, where he has lived for more than 45 years. Holman and his wife, Annette, plan on opening a small business in the Medford area in January. Advertisement The weekly commissioner’s exemption will be seeded 59th in each of this season’s 16 standard PBA Tour events. The 2004 Earl Anthony Medford Classic takes place Dec. 8-12 at Lava Lanes. ESPN will televise the finals on Sunday, Dec. 12, at 10 a.m. The PBA continues its season this weekend with the 2004 BowlersParadise.com Open in Valley Park, Mo.
