Bray Skillman, 99, of Ashland, Ore. passed away Wednesday, May 4, 2016 at Blue Mission Adult Foster Home in Gold Hill. She was born February 6, 1917, the daughter of Alfred and Ora Segsworth in Clearwater, Idaho. In July of 1925 Erma moved with her family to Ashland where she was raised, attended schools, and graduated from Southern Oregon Normal School, now known as Southern Oregon University. Erma taught one year in a rural school and in 1939 married Earl Bray who preceded her in death. They raised two children while living in California during the time Earl worked as a United States Federal Naturalization Officer. They returned to Ashland to help care for Erma’s mother. Several years after Earl’s death, she married Bob Skillman and they enjoyed several years together. Bob also preceded her in death. Erma was an active member of the Ashland First Baptist Church for many years, both as a young girl and after retirement. She is survived by a son, Edward Bray of Anchorage, Alaska; a daughter, Linda Dykes of Cottonwood, Calif.; and five grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, May 7, 2016 at the Ashland First Baptist Church. Interment will take place at the Mountain View Cemetery, Ashland. Arrangements under the care of Litwiller - Simonsen Funeral Home, Ashland.
