Since You Asked: Man who tweeted threats against president awaits trial Friday Oct 7, 2016 at 12:01 AM Whatever happened to that man the FBI arrested earlier this year for making threats against the president? Did they send him to prison? — Kathy, via Twitter   John Martin Roos, 62, whose Medford apartment was raided in April by the FBI following an alleged series of violent and racist tweets and Facebook posts, is still lodged at Jackson County Jail awaiting trial in U.S. District Court in Medford. Roos' trial date is set for Nov. 15, court records show, though these cases tend to be pushed back multiple times. It was previously set for July, but in August, Roos was indicted on new charges of possessing unregistered destructive devices, alleging he'd made four pipe bombs of varying sizes between 3½ and 6 inches, some containing fishing hooks and Phillips-head screws, and all containing the black powder substitute Pyrodex, according to court documents. In May, the federal court charged him with eight counts of making threats against the president and two counts of threats against federal law enforcement officers. The charges stem from eight tweets in March against the president, and a Jan. 31 Facebook post threatening the FBI the during the occupation of Malheur National Wildlife Refuge in Eastern Oregon by anti-government extremists. On April 28, investigators found multiple firearms in Roos' apartment in the 1400 block of Poplar Drive, including an AK-47 mounted on the wall near the front door, and a loaded Glock handgun concealed inside the couch cushions, according to police.  — Send questions to “Since You Asked,” Mail Tribune Newsroom, P.O.
