Roy L. Matchett Nov 06, 2009 12:00 AM A A Roy L. Matchett Roy L. Matchett passed away at his home in Klamath Falls, Ore., on Oct. 31, 2009 at the Age of 85. He was born in Kapowsin, Wash., on July 24, 1924 to Roy and Thelma Matchett. After graduating from Kapowsin High School in 1942, he enlisted in the United States Coast Guard serving in home waters and in the South Pacific and North Pacific Theaters during World War II When Discharged in 1946, He returned to Washington State where he owned and operated a service station. On Aug. 8, 1947 he married Jeanne Munson, making their home in Puyallup, Wash. They later lived in Eugene, Ore., where Roy worked for Oil Filter Service Company. Roy and Jeanne moved their family to Lakeview, Ore., in 1957 where they eventually established a successful heavy construction company, retiring in 1991. Roy and Jeanne relocated to Klamath Falls in 2004. Roy was also a licensed pilot who owned several air planes over the years. Roy enjoyed fishing, hunting, and prospecting. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Jeanne, Klamath Falls; sons, Kevin, of Jacksonville, Lee and wife, Cheryl Matchett, Klamath Falls, Ron and wife, Janell Matchett, Klamath Falls; sister, Delores Matchett, Klamath Falls; grandchildren, Kristina, Derek, Jenna, Amy, Joel, Lacy, Sarah, Mary, Drew and Olivia; and one great-grandson, Lian. A memorial service will be held Nov. 10, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. at Klamath Christian Center, 6100 Church Hill Drive, Klamath Falls, Ore. Eternal Hills Funeral Home is in Charge of Arrangements Roy L.
