North Valley girls overhaul Mustangs, 33-28 MERLIN -- All the North Valley girls basketball team needed was a break in the action Tuesday night. Halftime provided the respite, and the gritty Knights provided the rest in edging Hidden Valley, 33-28, in Skyline Conference action. With foul troubles, turnovers and rebounding woes plaguing North Valley, the Knights were able to regroup at halftime and outscore the Mustangs 18-10 over the final two periods to earn the win. "We made adjustments in the second half and took better care of the ball," North Valley coach Byron Robertson said. "We did a better job getting out defensively to Hidden Valley's shooters, and we rebounded better in the second half." The win helped North Valley improve to 5-9 overall and 3-1 in Skyline play, while Hidden Valley dropped to 2-2 in conference and 6-8 overall. Malloree Enoch had eight points and nine steals to lead North Valley, while teammate Charlotte Beck added seven points and Krissy Camire chipped in eight rebounds and six points. Sheena Gannon paced Hidden Valley with eight points. Hidden Valley managed a three-point lead at halftime thanks to second-quarter pressure that took advantage of the fact that Beck and Andee Trader were sidelined due to foul problems. "We were trying to force things a little bit and that's where they made their run in that second quarter," said Robertson, whose team was able to overcome 31 turnovers.
