Race car will carry missing teen's image By SARAH LEMON A photo of a Ruch teen missing since 1996 will be featured on the hood of a race car this weekend in Portland. The photo of Kaelin Rose Glazier, 15 at the time of her disappearance, will grace the hood of Don Sak's 2001 Chevrolet Camaro racing in the Tommy Bahama 125 at the Portland International Speedway. A Corvette driven by Sak's son, Bobby, will carry Glazier's image Sunday in the Speedvision World Challenge GT Championship, also in Portland. Sak, a race car driver and owner, worked with the Oregon State Police Missing Children Clearinghouse to put the photo on his cars as a way of generating further leads to finding Glazier. He also wanted to raise awareness of missing children, according to the Oregon State Police. The missing children's photos with all their identifying information are made into 3-by-3-foot square vinyl decals for the hoods of Sak's cars, said O.B. Barsh, a spokesman for Sak's motorsports team. The side of the car displays the phone number for the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, he said. Placing an image of another missing child on one of Sak's cars in a June racing event in Detroit helped return a Sheboygan, Mich., girl to her custodial parent two weeks ago, said Barsh. Glazier was last seen Nov. 6, 1996, in the area of her home at 181 Upper Applegate Road, Ruch, talking to an acquaintance, William "Billy" Simmons, around 6:30 p.m. Simmons, 20, was named a "person of interest" in the case though he has never been charged with a crime. Glazier was said to be walking to a church youth group meeting at nearby Applegate Christian Fellowship on Highway 238. She was reported missing to Jackson County Sheriff's deputies the same day. Jackson County Sheriff's investigators and the FBI are still working on the case and are asking the public to provide any information they have by calling 541-774-6800. Calls and information can be kept strictly confidential, the sheriff's department said. Investigators have interviewed several hundred people over the last four and a half years regarding Glazier's disappearance. Search and rescue groups, citizens, dogs, aircraft and psychics have also been used to try to find evidence in the case, with no results. Police and family members suspect foul play.
